The Early Years Count
At My School Child Care & Kindergarten, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and enriching early childhood education experience for your child. We understand the critical role that early childhood education and care play in their development, and we are committed to offering a high-quality program that recognizes the importance of the early years. Research has shown that 90 percent of a child’s brain development occurs in the first five years of life, which makes this period a vital time for children to attend My School.
We believe that every child is unique and possesses unlimited potential. Our team of passionate educators is devoted to creating a positive and stimulating environment where children can explore, discover, and learn. We firmly believe in the power of play as a fundamental tool for learning. Our program is carefully designed to foster children’s natural curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Through engaging activities, hands-on experiences, and meaningful interactions, we aim to stimulate their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
We also recognize the crucial role that families play in their child’s learning journey. As a parent, you are your child’s first and most influential teacher. That’s why we provide resources and support through our Early Years Count home page, offering valuable tips and information on how to support your child’s early learning and development. We strongly believe in the power of collaboration between educators and families to create a strong foundation for a child’s growth and success.
At My School Child Care & Kindergarten, the well-being and safety of every child are our utmost priorities. Our center provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive and feel secure. We have age-appropriate facilities, engaging learning materials, and outdoor spaces that encourage exploration, physical activity, and a connection with nature. We adhere to best practices in health and hygiene, ensuring that your child’s well-being is always safeguarded.
We also embrace and celebrate the diversity of our community. We believe that early childhood experiences shape a child’s understanding of themselves and the world around them. By fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, we encourage children to learn about and respect different cultures, perspectives, and abilities. Through meaningful interactions and experiences, we strive to develop their empathy, understanding, and a sense of belonging.
By enrolling your child at My School Child Care & Kindergarten, you are providing them with an opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Our team of dedicated educators is committed to supporting your child’s individual needs and interests, providing personalized attention and guidance. We believe in creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning, cultivating a love for learning that will benefit your child throughout their educational journey and beyond.

Changes to the Child Care Subsidy
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to share some important updates regarding the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) program, which will benefit families using child care services across Australia. At My School Child Care & Kindergarten, we are committed to providing high-quality education and care for your children, and we strive to ensure that child care remains accessible and affordable for all families.
Effective from 10 July 2023, the CCS program is undergoing significant changes that will increase the subsidy for most families and expand eligibility for some previously ineligible families. These changes aim to further support families and enhance the early childhood education experience for children.
Here are the key changes to the Child Care Subsidy:
- Maximum Subsidy Amount: The maximum amount of CCS will increase from 85% to 90%, allowing families to receive a higher level of financial support for their child care expenses.
- Income Thresholds: Families earning $80,000 or less will now be eligible for a CCS rate of 90%. For families with an income above $80,000, the CCS rate will gradually decrease by 1% for every $5,000 of family income. The rate will reach 0% for families earning $530,000 or more.
- Multiple Children: Families earning below $362,408 with more than one child aged 5 or under in care will still be eligible for a higher rate of subsidy for their second and younger children.
- Indigenous Children: Families with an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander child in their care will now have access to at least 36 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, ensuring equitable opportunities for all children.
To help providers, services, and families understand and navigate these changes, the Australian government’s Department of Education has provided a comprehensive set of resources. You can access these resources and find out more about the changes by visiting the official government website at [https://www.education.gov.au/early-childhood/child-care-subsidy#toc-changes-to-the-child-care-subsidy]. or [https://www.education.gov.au/early-childhood]. There, you will find printable factsheets, posters, videos, and translated materials that provide detailed information on the revised CCS program. Providers can also refer to the family eligibility and entitlement page for further clarification. To stay informed about any future developments, we encourage you to join our Facebook group available on the website.
We understand that as parents, you may have questions about how these changes will specifically impact your family’s subsidy rates. To estimate your future subsidy rates, you can utilize the CCS Calculator on the Starting Blocks website. For more comprehensive information about the Child Care Subsidy program, please visit the Services Australia website, where you will find a wealth of resources and guidance to assist you in understanding and navigating the subsidy changes effectively.
At My School Child Care & Kindergarten, we are thrilled about these changes to the Child Care Subsidy and the positive impact they will have on families and children across Australia. Our dedicated team remains committed to providing exceptional care and education, ensuring that every child in our center receives the best start in life. Kindergarten
At My School Child Care & Kindergarten, we understand the importance of providing comprehensive information to parents regarding My School Kindy age requirements, enrolment process, and preparing for the first day of My School Kindy. We want to ensure that both you and your child feel confident and prepared for this exciting milestone in their early education journey.
My School Kindy Age Requirements: Your child can attend My School Kindy in the year they turn 4 years old by 30 June. To help you determine your child’s start year, we have a My School Kindy calculator available. This tool, provided by the Queensland Government, assists you in understanding when your child is eligible to start My School Kindy based on their birthdate. You can access the calculator here.
Enrolment Process:
Enrolment procedures can vary among different services. Many services at My School Child Care & Kindergarten accept enrolments throughout the year, while some may have specific intake periods or waiting lists. It is recommended to put your child’s name on the waiting list in advance, even before they reach the eligible age. Depending on the service, it may be necessary to enrol your child more than 6 months prior to the start of the My School Kindy year. This ensures a smooth transition and secures your child’s place in our program.
Preparing for the First Day:
Preparing your child for their first day of My School Kindy is an important step in their educational journey. Familiarizing yourselves with our kindergarten or long day care service is a great way to start. You can drive or walk past the service together, helping your child become familiar with the surroundings.
Engaging your child in conversations about My School Kindy is also beneficial. Talk to them about what they will be doing, who they will meet, why they will be attending, and when they will be going. Explain that they will stay at the service for a certain period of time until you come to pick them up. These discussions help alleviate any anxiety and build excitement for the upcoming experience.
Additionally, you can help your child prepare for My School Kindy by encouraging them to develop essential skills they will need. Simple, two-part directions can be given to assist them in activities such as getting dressed (zipping, buttoning, putting on a hat, and getting shoes on and off), applying sunscreen, opening and closing their lunchbox and water bottle, throwing away their rubbish, excusing themselves instead of interrupting, playing and talking with others (sharing and taking turns), and packing up after play and other activities. These day-to-day activities promote independence and confidence in your child.
What to Bring:
At My School Child Care & Kindergarten, we strive to provide a convenient and hassle-free experience for parents. Our experienced cook takes care of providing nutritious and delicious meals for your child throughout the day. Therefore, there is no need for you to pack food for your child.
However, we recommend contacting our My School Child Care & Kindergarten for a detailed list of any additional items that may be required based on the specific program and service you choose. Typically, your child might still need to bring a drink bottle, spare clothes, a broad-brimmed hat, shoes, and a sleep sheet and pillow if required. Our staff will be happy to provide you with all the necessary information to ensure your child has everything they need for a comfortable and enjoyable day at My School Kindy.
For more information on getting ready for My School Kindy, including the My School Kindy calculator provided by the Queensland Government, we encourage you to visit the Early Childhood Queensland Government website. We are here to support you and your child through this important transition and ensure that their first day at My School Child Care & Kindergarten is a positive and enjoyable experience.
