📘 My Journey into Early Childhood
From a young age, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. During high school, I discovered my true calling in early childhood education — and I haven’t looked back since. I love celebrating children’s milestones, encouraging curiosity, and supporting their development as confident, capable learners. 💡🌈

I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and remain committed to ongoing professional development to ensure our centre continues to reflect best practice in education, leadership, and curriculum.

🌟 Why I Love My School
After returning from maternity leave and briefly working at another centre, I quickly realised that My School is where I truly belong — both as an educator and as a parent. 💖 My children are also enrolled here, and I feel reassured knowing they are part of a warm, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment.

The strong family values, supportive team culture, and commitment to child-led learning make My School such a special place. It’s an honour to now step into the role of Director, where I can lead and mentor our amazing team while continuing to work closely with children and families. 🌼👣

Outside of work, I’m a busy mum to two beautiful children. 👧👦 I value maintaining balance through regular exercise and self-care, which helps me stay energised and present — both at home and in my role as Director.

I’m incredibly proud to continue being part of the team at My School Child Care & Kindergarten – Slade Point, Mackay as the 2nd Assistant Director (3IC) and a Diploma Qualified Early Childhood Educator. I’ve been with My School since the very beginning and have had the privilege of supporting the centre in a variety of leadership roles, including Nursery Room Leader, Assistant Director, and Nominated Supervisor. 🌱✨

I made the heartfelt decision to step back from full-time leadership to spend more quality time with my family. While my role has evolved, my commitment to early childhood education — and to the children, families, and educators at Slade Point — remains as strong as ever. In my current role, I support the centre through a 3IC leadership position, while also working directly with children as an educator. 💕👶

Originally from Belmont, NSW, I grew up on a property in the beautiful Hunter Valley with my brother and two sisters. In 2019, I made the big move to Mackay and attended Northern Beaches State High School, where I began a whole new adventure. 🌳☀️

🌱 My Journey in Early Childhood Education
I began my career in early childhood education in 2021 at Moreton Drive Early Learning, and after taking a short break, I quickly realised just how much I missed this rewarding industry. I’m so grateful to have found my place here at My School Child Care & Kindergarten. 💖

Working with children is truly my passion. I love being part of their journey as they grow, learn, and discover the world around them. 📚 My Early Education Journey
I began my career in Early Childhood Education in 2019 after completing my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. During my placement, I instantly knew this was the path for me. I joined the My School family in 2021 as a casual educator before transitioning into a full-time role and beginning my Diploma through My School in 2022.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across different rooms, including Junior Kindy and Kindy, but I truly feel at home in the Nursery, where I can build meaningful bonds with children and their families. 🧸💕

👋 Hi Families! I’m Bella Roberts, and I’m excited to be part of the My School Child Care & Kindergarten – Slade Point, Mackay family as a Trainee Early Childhood Educator. 💛

I joined the My School team in July 2026 and am currently working towards my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I’m really excited to continue developing my knowledge and skills while gaining hands-on experience alongside our wonderful children and experienced educators.

🌱 Discovering My Passion for Early Childhood Education

Growing up, I always thought I wanted to become a primary school teacher. However, after completing some early childhood studies while I was at school, I discovered just how much I loved working with younger children.

It didn’t take long for me to realise that early childhood education was where I truly wanted to be. ❤️

I love having the opportunity to watch children learn, grow and develop, especially during these incredibly important early years. Being able to contribute to their learning and create positive, meaningful experiences for them each day is something I find incredibly rewarding.

🎨 Learning Through Play & Experiences

I believe childhood should be filled with opportunities to play, explore, discover, create and have fun.

As I continue my traineeship, I’m enjoying learning how to create engaging experiences that reflect children’s individual interests and encourage their confidence, curiosity, independence and development.

I love being involved in children’s play, celebrating their achievements and watching their personalities shine as they discover new skills and interests. 🌈✨

💛 Finding My Place at My School

Although I only joined My School Slade Point in July 2026, I already absolutely love working here and often wish I had started my career in early childhood education sooner!

I’m so grateful to have found such a welcoming centre with supportive and friendly colleagues, wonderful families and amazing children.

Being surrounded by experienced educators gives me the opportunity to learn something new every day, and I’m excited to continue building my confidence, knowledge and skills throughout my Certificate III traineeship.

🐴 A Little About Me

Outside of work, I love spending time with my friends and family, horse riding, going to the beach and travelling whenever I get the chance. 🐴🏖️✈️

One of my biggest goals in life is to travel to every country in the world and experience different cultures, places and ways of life. I love being outdoors, experiencing new things and making memories with the people closest to me.

And, of course, there’s Pickle, my sausage dog, who is definitely my favourite thing in the world! 🐶❤️

🌱 My Journey into Early Childhood Education

I began my journey into early childhood education in 2025, inspired by my own son and the special relationships I have with my eight nieces and nephews.

Being such a big part of their lives showed me just how rewarding it is to support children as they learn, grow, discover new things and develop their own unique personalities. It inspired me to turn that passion into a career where I can make a positive difference in children’s lives every day.

👩‍👦 An Educator & a My School Parent

Being a parent gives me a special perspective on early childhood education, as I understand what it feels like to place your child in the care of others.

My son also attends My School Slade Point, so I have the wonderful opportunity to experience our centre from both a parent‘s and educator’s perspective.

I love watching him learn, play, develop new skills and build friendships at My School. Seeing his experiences makes my role as an educator even more meaningful and reinforces how important it is for every child and family to feel safe, welcomed, valued and supported. 💕

I’m currently close to completing my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, and I’m excited to continue developing professionally by working towards my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

After living in Newcastle for seven years, I recently returned home to Mackay and have loved reconnecting with our local community and everything this beautiful region has to offer.

🎓 10 Years in Early Childhood Education

This year marks 10 years working in the early childhood education and care industry, and working with children has always been where my heart is.

From a young age, I knew I wanted to become a teacher. I love being able to teach, guide and support children, watch them discover something new, and know that I have played a positive role in their learning and development.

I completed my Diploma of Children’s Services in Sydney before continuing my studies at university, where I completed my Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary).

My qualifications and experience across both early childhood and primary education have given me a broad understanding of children’s development and the learning journey from their earliest years through to school. 📚✨

🏫 Early Childhood & Primary School Experience

After moving from Sydney to Mackay, I expanded my teaching experience into the primary school environment and have now been working in primary schools for three years.

Having experience across both early childhood education and primary school settings has given me a valuable perspective on how children’s early experiences help build the foundations for their future learning.

I understand the importance of developing children’s confidence, independence, communication, social skills and love of learning well before they begin their formal schooling journey. 🌱

💛 Making a Positive Difference

For me, being an educator is about much more than teaching.

It’s about creating meaningful relationships, helping children feel safe, valued and supported, encouraging their natural curiosity and celebrating the many achievements and milestones that happen along the way.

Every child learns differently, and I love being able to support their individual interests, strengths and personalities through positive interactions and engaging, play-based learning experiences. 🌈

I’m also now a very proud mum to a beautiful baby boy. ❤️

Becoming a mother has made watching a child’s development even more special. It is magical being able to watch my own little boy grow, learn, explore and develop, and it has given me another perspective on just how precious these early years are for children and their families.

Outside of teaching and spending time with my family, I enjoy swimming, push-bike riding, karaoke and dancing with my friends. 🚲🎤💃

🌟 My Journey into Early Childhood Education
I began my career in early childhood education in 2019, working in another centre for 12 months. While I briefly returned to the hospitality industry to follow my love of cooking, I quickly realised that my heart truly belongs in early childhood education. In September 2022, I proudly joined the team at My School, where I’ve continued to grow and thrive as an educator. 💖✨

Since joining My School, I have completed my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, and I’m eager to continue my professional journey by pursuing my Diploma in the near future. I’m currently pursuing my Certificate III in Childcare and have approximately 18 months of hands-on experience in the childcare industry. My journey with My School began in 2021, where I had the privilege of working with so many amazing children and families.

After stepping away briefly to explore opportunities in my family business, I discovered that my true passion lies in early childhood education. The joy of helping young minds grow, explore, and achieve milestones is unmatched, and I’m so happy to be back doing what I love most.

My name is Yrad Loban, and I am incredibly proud to be part of the My School Child Care & Kindergarten team at Slade Point, Mackay as a Lead Educator. I am a proud First Nations woman belonging to the Wuthathi (Shelbourne Bay), Wagadagem (Mabuiag Island), and Dhoey Baw (Boigu Island) clans, with strong family connections to Badu and Yam Islands and Southeast Asia. My cultural heritage and community ties are an important part of who I am and deeply influence the work I do with children and families.

👶 Passion for Supporting Children
With over three years of experience in Learning Support, including time as the First Nations Learning Support Officer at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, I have supported students across all year levels from Prep to Grade 6. I especially loved my time as a Prep classroom assistant, where I found my true passion for early childhood education. I am dedicated to helping young children build strong foundations in learning, confidence, and connection to community.

🖍️ Inspiring Learning Through Culture & Creativity
I bring a strong focus on cultural awareness, inclusion, and community connection to everything I do. I have proudly led activities for important events such as Survival Day, Sorry Day, Harmony Day, Torres Strait Islander Flag Day, and Indigenous Literacy Day—helping children and families learn about and celebrate the richness of First Nations culture and history.

📚 Ongoing Education & Personal Growth
I am currently completing a double degree in Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Studies) and Bachelor of Business (Marketing), and I previously began studying my Bachelor of Education (Primary). These academic experiences reflect my commitment to lifelong learning and building knowledge that I can pass on to the next generation in meaningful and engaging ways.
