Hello! My name is Fiona, and I am incredibly proud to serve as the Nominated Supervisor at My School Child Care & Kindergarten - Slade Point, Mackay. I’ve had the pleasure of being part of this wonderful organisation from the very start, taking on several roles, including Nursery Manager and Assistant Director. After the birth of my third child, I decided to step back from my full-time duties but continued to contribute as lunch cover, staying connected with our amazing team and the families we serve. 👶💕

Hello, my name is Meesha, and I am thrilled to be a part of the wonderful team at My School Child Care & Kindergarten in Slade Point, Mackay. With over 13 years of experience in early childhood education, I am passionate about fostering excellence and ensuring that every child in our care is given the best opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.

At My School Slade Point, I am deeply involved in the Quality Improvement Plan, ensuring that we are always striving for the best practices in early childhood education. This means continuously reviewing and improving our programs to make sure they align with the approved learning frameworks and support the developmental needs of each child. I work alongside our educators to implement planning cycles that are child-centred and focus on the individual learning paths of every child.
Our Programs: Indoor & Outdoor Learning 🌳🏫
We offer two dynamic and interactive programs here at My School Slade Point: the Indoor Program and the Outdoor Program, both completed weekly. These programs are designed to encourage exploration, learning, and fun! They also serve as platforms for educators to plan and document the children’s learning experiences. We actively encourage families to share their stories, photos, and interests, helping to create a collaborative learning environment that involves everyone.

Before joining My School, I worked as a cheerleading and dance coach, where I was able to engage with children in a fun and creative way. My passion for working with children led me to complete my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, and it was during this time that I realized early childhood education was my true calling. Hi! I’m Kirra, and I’m beyond excited to be part of the My School Child Care & Kindergarten team at Slade Point, Mackay. I’m currently pursuing my Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years), which builds on my deep passion for early childhood education. Growing up as the eldest of four siblings sparked my love for nurturing others. From a young age, I loved helping my siblings with their homework and teaching them new skills, which led me to pursue a career in education. 🧑🏫✨
My Journey in Education I began my journey in early childhood education by completing my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care during my final years of school. At just 18, I took the opportunity to continue my studies and completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care right here at My School Child Care & Kindergarten. 🌱📚
My Role and Philosophy As the Pre Kindy Lead Educator, my favourite part of the day is watching the children laugh, smile, and build connections with each other. Seeing their joy and knowing I’m part of their learning journey is incredibly fulfilling. I believe in the power of play-based learning, where children learn through exploration and imagination. This approach helps children socialise, express their ideas, and develop key skills in a fun and engaging way. 🎨🛝

Tyler Johnson
Hello! My name is Tyler Johnson, and I’m excited to share my journey and passion for early childhood education. My path into this field began several years ago when I was coaching gymnastics while still training as a gymnast. Watching the children I coached achieve their goals was such a rewarding experience, and it ignited my love for working with children.
I’ve been part of the My School Child Care & Kindergarten team in Slade Point, Mackay, since April 2021, and I’m proud to say that I completed my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care through the centre in November 2022. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in various rooms within the centre, starting as a float and then moving into positions as an assistant educator in the toddler room and currently as an assistant educator in the Nursery. This journey has given me a well-rounded understanding of the diverse needs of children at different ages and developmental stages.
My Philosophy 🌱
As a Lead Educator in the Toddler Room, my number one priority is to create a safe, calm, and fun environment for all the children in my care. I believe that every child deserves a space where they can feel comfortable, valued, and free to explore and express themselves. My goal is to foster an environment where curiosity is celebrated, friendships are built, and each child can grow at their own pace.

📚 My Early Education Journey
I began my career in Early Childhood Education in 2019 after completing my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. During my placement, I instantly knew this was the path for me. I joined the My School family in 2021 as a casual educator, before transitioning to a full-time role and beginning my Diploma through My School in 2022.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various rooms, including Junior Kindy and Kindy, but I feel most at home in the Nursery, where I can build beautiful, meaningful bonds with the children and their families. 🧸💕

My journey in the childcare industry began in 2019 when I started studying for my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. In 2022, I furthered my qualifications by completing my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. Since then, I have been dedicated to nurturing and supporting children in their early years of development.
I grew up in the Atherton Tablelands and moved to the small mining town of Clermont at the age of 10, where I learned the importance of community and support. These values have shaped me into the educator I am today, someone who thrives on creating safe and welcoming spaces where every child feels valued and supported.
After relocating to Mackay in 2018, I discovered my true passion for early childhood education. Having played a pivotal role in raising my cousins’ children, my desire to support children’s growth and development only grew stronger over the years. I have come to deeply appreciate the critical role early learning plays in shaping a child’s future, and I am passionate about being part of that journey.
I firmly believe in the power of play-based learning. I strive to create fun, creative, and interactive experiences that cater to each child’s unique needs, interests, and developmental stages. It’s so rewarding to witness the spark in a child’s eye as they discover something new, and I’m dedicated to fostering that curiosity in every child.
In late 2023, I joined the My School team as a float educator while expecting my baby. From the moment I arrived, I knew this was a place where I could thrive, with a supportive and caring environment that encouraged my personal and professional growth. The atmosphere at My School felt like home, and it has been such a fulfilling experience to be part of a team that shares my passion for early childhood education.
After taking a few months to enjoy precious moments with my baby, I am overjoyed to be back at My School with my little one by my side. I’m excited about the opportunity to meet you and your children as I continue to support their growth and development into wonderful little individuals.

My journey began back in 2010 when I enrolled in university to pursue my degree in Early Childhood Education. I’ve known since primary school that working with children was my passion. Before university, I spent countless hours caring for and teaching children from my family and friends, which helped solidify my love for this career. 👶💡
🌱 Experience & Growth
After completing university, I took my first step into the childcare industry in 2016, working in a childcare centre in Sydney. I’ve had the privilege of working with children across all age groups, from 0 to 5 years old, and I’ve particularly enjoyed working with the older age groups as they begin to explore and discover the world around them. 🌍✨
🌞 A New Chapter in Queensland
In 2020, I met my partner, and in late 2022, we made the exciting decision to relocate to Queensland. The transition has been incredible, and in 2023, I had the opportunity to work at a private kindergarten as a teacher. This experience helped me gain valuable insight into Queensland education and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Framework, which boosted my confidence and reinforced my passion for teaching. 🌟📚

I am a proud First Nations woman belonging to the Wuthathi (Shelbourne Bay), Wagadagem (Mabuiag Island), and Dhoey Baw (Boigu Island) clans, with strong family connections to Badu and Yam Islands and Southeast Asia. My cultural heritage and community ties are an important part of who I am and deeply influence the work I do with children and families.

With over three years of experience in Learning Support, including time as the First Nations Learning Support Officer at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, I have supported students across all year levels from Prep to Grade 6. I especially loved my time as a Prep classroom assistant, where I found my true passion for early childhood education. I am dedicated to helping young children build strong foundations in learning, confidence, and connection to community.
