I’m incredibly proud and excited to introduce myself as the Director of My School Child Care & Kindergarten – Slade Point, Mackay. 🌿✨ With over 10 years of experience in early childhood education and care, I’m deeply passionate about nurturing young minds, supporting families, and leading our centre with strong values, quality practice, and a child-first approach.
📘 My Journey into Early Childhood
From a young age, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. During high school, I discovered my true calling in early childhood education — and I haven’t looked back since. I love celebrating children’s milestones, encouraging curiosity, and supporting their development as confident, capable learners. 💡🌈
I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and remain committed to ongoing professional development to ensure our centre continues to reflect best practice in education, leadership, and curriculum.

After returning from maternity leave and briefly working at another centre, I quickly realised that My School is where I truly belong — both as an educator and as a parent. 💖 My children are also enrolled here, and I feel reassured knowing they are part of a warm, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment.

I’m incredibly proud to continue being part of the team at My School Child Care & Kindergarten – Slade Point, Mackay as the 2nd Assistant Director (3IC) and a Diploma Qualified Early Childhood Educator. I’ve been with My School since the very beginning and have had the privilege of supporting the centre in a variety of leadership roles, including Nursery Room Leader, Assistant Director, and Nominated Supervisor. 🌱✨

I made the heartfelt decision to step back from full-time leadership to spend more quality time with my family. While my role has evolved, my commitment to early childhood education — and to the children, families, and educators at Slade Point — remains as strong as ever. In my current role, I support the centre through a 3IC leadership position, while also working directly with children as an educator. 💕👶

I began my career in early childhood education in 2019, working in another centre for 12 months. While I briefly returned to the hospitality industry to follow my love of cooking, I quickly realised that my heart truly belongs in early childhood education. In September 2022, I proudly joined the team at My School, where I’ve continued to grow and thrive as an educator and now as a room leader. 💖✨

👋 Hello! My name is Tyler Johnson
I’m excited to share my journey and passion for early childhood education as the Junior Kindy Lead Educator here at My School Child Care & Kindergarten – Slade Point, Mackay. My path into early learning began several years ago while coaching gymnastics during my own training. Watching children build confidence, develop new skills, and achieve their goals was incredibly rewarding and sparked my love for working with children. 🤸♂️✨
🌱 My Journey with My School
I’ve been part of the My School family since April 2021 and proudly completed my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care through the centre in November 2022. Throughout my time at the centre, I’ve worked across multiple rooms — starting as a float, then supporting the Toddler Room and Nursery — which has given me a well-rounded understanding of children’s development across different ages and stages. 🌈

My journey into early childhood education began after becoming a mum myself. Experiencing the early years firsthand with my own son sparked a deep appreciation for the importance of creating safe, nurturing, and inspiring environments for young children. Alongside my educator role, I also support our centre as the Event Co-ordinator. I love planning and organising special events — from fun dress-up days to community celebrations and holiday festivities. I’m currently pursuing my Certificate III in Childcare and have approximately 18 months of hands-on experience in the childcare industry. My journey with My School began in 2021, where I had the privilege of working with so many amazing children and families.
After stepping away briefly to explore opportunities in my family business, I discovered that my true passion lies in early childhood education. The joy of helping young minds grow, explore, and achieve milestones is unmatched, and I’m so happy to be back doing what I love most.

My name is Yrad Loban, and I am incredibly proud to be part of the My School Child Care & Kindergarten team at Slade Point, Mackay as a Lead Educator. I am a proud First Nations woman belonging to the Wuthathi (Shelbourne Bay), Wagadagem (Mabuiag Island), and Dhoey Baw (Boigu Island) clans, with strong family connections to Badu and Yam Islands and Southeast Asia. My cultural heritage and community ties are an important part of who I am and deeply influence the work I do with children and families.
👶 Passion for Supporting Children
With over three years of experience in Learning Support, including time as the First Nations Learning Support Officer at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, I have supported students across all year levels from Prep to Grade 6. I especially loved my time as a Prep classroom assistant, where I found my true passion for early childhood education. I am dedicated to helping young children build strong foundations in learning, confidence, and connection to community.
🖍️ Inspiring Learning Through Culture & Creativity
I bring a strong focus on cultural awareness, inclusion, and community connection to everything I do. I have proudly led activities for important events such as Survival Day, Sorry Day, Harmony Day, Torres Strait Islander Flag Day, and Indigenous Literacy Day—helping children and families learn about and celebrate the richness of First Nations culture and history.
📚 Ongoing Education & Personal Growth
I am currently completing a double degree in Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Studies) and Bachelor of Business (Marketing), and I previously began studying my Bachelor of Education (Primary). These academic experiences reflect my commitment to lifelong learning and building knowledge that I can pass on to the next generation in meaningful and engaging ways.
